First-Time Paragliding in India? Here’s What to Expect!
Are you planning to try paragliding in India, for the first time? You’ve come to the right place! The most common question we get from aspiring pilots is whether they need any prior experience or knowledge before starting a paragliding course.
Let us put your mind at ease—no prior experience is required! At our paragliding school in Kamshet, our experienced instructors will guide you step by step, starting from the basics.
A Beginner’s Guide to Paragliding in Kamshet
This 4-day paragliding course in Kamshet is designed to safely get you 3–4 solo flights, weather permitting. We aim to give you the best experience possible, ensuring you enjoy the thrill of paragliding while learning the essential skills.
Day 1: Ground Training
We’ll begin on a flat, open field in Kamshet, where you’ll get acquainted with the paragliding equipment. You’ll learn how to perform an alpine takeoff, also known as a forward launch technique. This simple and beginner-friendly technique is perfect for first-time paragliders.
Your instructor will:
Introduce you to the glider, harness, and key terminology used during radio instructions.
Teach you how to safely get into your harness and perform pre-flight checks.
Guide you through attaching the glider to the harness and practicing launch techniques on flat ground.
Although you won’t take flight on the first day, this foundational training is crucial for your safety and confidence.
Day 2: Small Flights on a Gradual Slope
Day 2 builds on the basics, starting with a quick recap. We then move to a gentle slope to practice launching with a slight inclination. This step lets you experience the sensation of the glider lifting you off the ground—just 2–3 feet for 3–4 seconds.
Day 3: Bunny Hops for Safe Landings
On Day 3, you’ll progress to bunny hops, where you’ll fly from a small hill for around 30 seconds. This phase focuses on mastering the landing maneuver called the flare, which helps slow down the glider for a safe and smooth touchdown.
Day 4: Solo Paragliding Flights in Kamshet
The real excitement begins on Day 4! With your takeoff and landing skills in place, it’s time to focus on flying. Before heading to the launch site, our instructors will cover:
Weather and wind conditions.
Glider behavior.
Piloting techniques.
Flight path planning.
Mental readiness.
You’ll also train on a simulator to practice controlling the glider, making turns, and piloting positions. Once you’re ready, you’ll take solo flights under the supervision of our instructors who will be guiding you through radio instructions. We aim to get you as many flights as possible on this final day!
